More than twenty-five years ago I started my first business at age nineteen, on credit, with no business experience and no plan.
The road that followed was often rough. The same day I was featured in Entrepreneur Magazine I was being served an eviction notice from my plush 10,000 square foot office space in downtown Atlanta.
Fast-forward to today and I am President & CEO of iSuccess Consulting, Inc., a boutique business consulting firm.
I am a serial entrepreneur, and have built several successful businesses in the technology, consulting, construction, entertainment, and marketing industry. I have directly developed small business suppliers for Delta Air Lines and other fortune 500 corporations. I’ve obtained more than $30 million in traditional and non-traditional funding capital for small businesses. I am the best-selling author of The CEO Life®, the #1 Trusted Business Playbook for Ambitious CEO’s that are ready to up-level their life and business. And I want to share all my experience with YOU.
I love everything about the idea of marriage – the partnership, vulnerability, safe space, companionship, and compassion. But the dream I had of marriage never translated into reality for me.
After 14 years of marriage I found myself feeling alone, sad, and unfulfilled. It was a heartbreaking and liberating moment when I realized that the only way I could fulfill my purpose, be authentically myself and have peace, was to walk away from my marriage.
I wrestled with this thought for over five years because I didn’t want to be considered a failure because I couldn’t make my marriage work. I worried about my kids – would a broken home break them? I was also scared of being a single mom.
After filing for divorce and going through proceedings for four months God began to change both my husband’s and my heart. We accepted responsibility for our individual contributions to the breakdown of our marriage and realized we were responsible for our own happiness.
Through patience, love, and compromise, we reconciled. Our kids are thriving and we’re building a strong foundation for our future as partners.
If you’d looked at my social media accounts a few years ago, you would have thought I was living my #bestlife: nice house, expensive car, designer shoes AND a successful business. I was thriving, right?
In reality, my life was unravelling right before my eyes. From filing business bankruptcy and having to rebuild my business from scratch, to serving time in federal prison and suffering two miscarriages, life didn’t turn out as I’d expected.
I found myself in one toxic relationship after another, in both my business and personal life. I felt like I was trapped in a cycle of lack, and I didn’t know how to get out of it. My journey of self-discovery started at rock bottom, and the ascent was daunting.
I had to learn how to create high standards and set boundaries. I had to learn how to validate myself, increase my confidence, and go after the life I wanted on my own terms.
But you know what? Over time, every one of those difficult choices got easier. And every step brought me closer to the abundance I’d been yearning for. Today, I’m a woman of faith, courage, and perseverance, and it’s all thanks to life’s curveballs.
Being a great CEO is all about finding your life’s flow, healing past hurt, and following your true, inner priorities with passion and purpose.
Whether you choose to engage with alternative therapies and modes of self-discovery, or prefer a pragmatic, logic-based approach to your inner life, it’s a simple fact that the ways in which we direct our energy seriously impact our output – both in life and business!
The experience has sharpened not only my self-awareness, but my ability to see gifts and potential in others. Now I want to help YOU to find your unique flow and let your energy start working for you, rather than struggling to find it all the time!
