The second reason for meditating is that it helps you cope with pain. By acknowledging and letting go of distracting thoughts through meditation, it is possible to block out or minimizing pain.
High endurance sports or previous injuries can wreak havoc on the human body. Even intense workouts at the gym over long periods of time can take a toll on your body. Joint pain, muscle spasms, sprains and broken bones are just a few examples of the contributors to physical pain that many people experience as a result of physical activity. Meditation has been shown to help people center themselves and enable them to better cope with pain.
It is highly recommended that you incorporate meditation in your spiritual practice of prayer, journaling, praise and worship, Yoga, or whatever method centers you. It will help you to remain in a space of gratitude and focusing on the present and letting go of the past.
